[14:37] S: hi
[14:37] R: http://dhoomk2.blogspot.com/2006/04/two-stories-then.html
[14:37] S: read.
[14:37] R: gud
[14:38] S: but i still say reservations are a must
[14:38] R: hmm
[14:38] R: mebbe becucz of ur habit of going against the usual
[14:39] R: not fifty percent must bey
[14:39] S: nope.
[14:39] R: tomoro they'll reproduce more n more
[14:39] R: n they'll amend the fifty percent limit too
[14:40] S: i was dead agains tthem..
[14:40] S: told ya.
[14:40] S: i even took part in plans for protest.
[14:40] S: but one of my profs changed all my views on it.
[14:40] R: how
[14:40] R: please tell
[14:40] R: its good to know things before i take a stand
[14:40] S: now i am not against reservations but against the misuse of reservations
[14:40] R: obviously me too against the misuse
[14:40] S: he talked.
[14:40] S: u must have heard him.
[14:40] R: who ?
[14:41] R: i dnno wot he said
[14:41] R: but if u were to give reservations
[14:41] S: reservations are a m,ust. creamy layer shud be excluded...
[14:41] R: give it at primary education levels
[14:41] S: and subsequently % decreased
[14:41] R: creamy layer shud be ?
[14:41] R: which creamylayer ?
[14:41] S: reservation at primary school wont work.
[14:41] R: how come ?
[14:42] S: economic criterion maybe... or urban criteria.
[14:42] S: primary schools shud be developed to match the private schools.
[14:42] R: but wen those things are not happening
[14:42] R: how valid are the changes now
[14:42] R: u r assuming things
[14:42] S: and then bring everyone to the same level of competence.
[14:42] S: biut that'll take time.
[14:42] S: until then..
[14:42] S: we need reservations
[14:42] R: but wen will be properly use raa
[14:43] R: who is watching over the whole scheme of things ?>
[14:43] S: unless primary education is strengthened, reservations ar ea must
[14:43] S: anything can be misused ra.
[14:43] R: actually do u get a point
[14:43] S: we cannot oppose soemthing only bcos it can be misused.
[14:43] R: now no one will ask for strengtening of primary education
[14:43] S: even reservations for SCs in the present form ar ebeing misused
[14:44] R: because they'll get complacent with the reservationst hey have
[14:44] R: im sure everything can be misuses
[14:44] R: but why magnify the trouble int hat case
[14:44] S: the govt. needs to do it.
[14:44] S: if no reservations and no primary edu then 80% ppl of india do not have opportunities
[14:45] R: i dont know the stats so i cannot clearly argue
[14:45] R: but somewhere down the line i feel things are not really taking a good turn
[14:45] R: tell me who'll seriously consider strengthening primary education
[14:45] R: wen assured something good at lesser effort ?
[14:45] S: till we have good primary edu, reservatiopns ar e amust.
[14:46] S: of course, safeguards should be there to prevent misuse
[14:46] S: the govt. will and shud.
[14:46] S: who else?
[14:46] R: thats wot im telling raa
[14:46] R: do both or do none
[14:46] S: who will care for the country's development? the govt.
[14:46] R: i've seen people cussing ambedkar without knowing what he actually thought
[14:46] S: thts not correct.
[14:46] R: ii understand the whole motive
[14:46] R: but the misuse is pathetic
[14:46] S: if we do none, we r not helping anyone
[14:47] R: and by the misuse we are ? :p
[14:47] S: misuse ra.
[14:47] R: so when will we actually conclude
[14:47] S: we are NOT agianst reservations. we are against misuse of reservations.
[14:47] S: do u agree?
[14:48] R: that no they are not being misuses
[14:48] R: yep
[14:48] R: yep
[14:48] S: do u agree?
[14:48] S: thts the whole point.
[14:48] S: the forward classes shud be assure that misuse will be minimised.
[14:48] R: hahaha
[14:48] S: this can prbly be done byy excluding the creamy layer of the SCs first
[14:49] R: economically or academically cream ?
[14:49] S: both.
[14:49] S: economic, urban and academic criterion
[14:49] R: ok then ?
[14:50] S: i gave wht i think as the ideal path in my blog
[14:50] S: 1. Have reservations based on caste/class. 2. Exclude the 'creamy layer'and also decrease percent reserved with the final aim of making it zero. 'creamy layer' needs to be defined and redefined every few years. 3. Increase spending on primary and secondary education so that atleast in the future, children of all classes have compareable learning opportunities. 4. Reduce subsidising technical/higher education and instead provide loans/scholarships based on merit/economic status.
[14:51] R: ejjatly
[14:51] R: my point of argument
[14:51] R: reservations shud be based on economy too
[14:51] R: but today all a political party wants is fame
[14:51] S: so we are in cohesion?
[14:51] R: and in that attempt this is a gimmick
[14:52] R: yes we are
[14:52] R: only that im pessimistic n u r optimistic :p
[14:52] S: not needed if we follow point 4 above.
[14:52] S: fuck the political parties.. even if someone tries to do something good, we assume its a gimmick
[14:53] R: In that case only time will tell bey
[14:53] S: yes.
[14:53] S: so no point shouting ourselves hoarse now.
[14:53] S: no one in their right mind will oppose reservations
[14:53] R: sorry but i still beg to differ :p
[14:54] R: start doing the better things first and if they dont happen go for the measures
[14:54] S: are u still against reservations or against misuse of reservations?
[14:54] R: or mebbe they have done the better things and i have not known them
[14:54] R: MISUSE
[14:54] R: i made it clear
[14:54] S: yes.
[14:54] S: so u r not anti -reservation?
[14:55] R: that i said is entirely based on the assumptions u made
[14:55] S: i mad eno assumption.
[14:55] R: Ok without misuse
[14:55] R: I'm not anti
[14:55] S: absolutely no assumption.
[14:55] S: no one in their right mind will oppose reservations! .
[14:56] R: hehe
[14:56] R: sare raa
[14:56] R: I still think they are not benefitting those whom they are supposed to. Please take care of that.
